Privacy policy

What we collect

When you use a form on this site, we collect what you type into it: your name, email address and company, and what you tell us about your project, your firm or your experience. The scheduling form also takes a file if you attach one. We do not ask for payment details.

How we use it

We use what you send us to reply to you, to send what you asked for, to prepare for a conversation about your project or your work with us, and to keep a record of our correspondence. Form submissions go to our company inbox and our business records, through the service that delivers our forms.

Analytics

We use two analytics tools to understand which pages are useful and where the site needs work. Google Analytics counts the pages visited, how you arrived, the type of device and browser, an approximate location derived from your connection and how long you spend on the site. Google states that Analytics does not log or store IP addresses.

Microsoft Clarity records clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, and replays sessions so we can see how a page is used. Every form field is masked, so Clarity does not record what you type.

We do not use either tool for advertising, and Google's advertising and data sharing features are turned off.

Cookies

Both tools set cookies when you arrive on the site. Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID, which last up to two years. Clarity sets _clck and _clsk on our domain, and CLID, ANONCHK, MR, MUID and SM from Microsoft's domains.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Our analytics tools do not respond to Do Not Track signals.

Google and Microsoft

Google and Microsoft may collect information about your visit through these tools and use it under their own privacy terms. Google explains this in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services, and Microsoft in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising. It is held by the service providers who run this website, our forms, our email and our business records. We may disclose information where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep form submissions and correspondence for as long as they are useful to the conversation and any project that follows, and as long as the law requires for business records. Google Analytics keeps its data for 14 months. Clarity keeps session recordings for 30 days and its summary reports for up to nine months.

Your choices

You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to hello@macdougallbuilders.com. We will respond to every request.

California residents

We do not sell or share personal information as California law defines those terms. If you live in California and want to make a request about your information, write to hello@macdougallbuilders.com.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top.
